NEG and the BBMP, the municipality of Bangalore, signed a concession agreement, agreeing to develop a waste to energy power plant for the city of Bangalore. This plant will be processing over 700 tons of waste per day, generating around 12 Megawatts per hour. The waste problems in Bangalore have been crippling to the city. NEG is proud to be building the first private waste to energy project in the state of Karnataka. Aaron Abadi, CEO of NEG, says that “NEG has been working with the BBMP for many years, and we are glad that we finally came to a proper agreement where all sides benefit substantially.” Abadi describes the benefits of a waste to energy project, saying, “piling waste up into miniature mountains is not a safe and healthy way to live. Using the waste as fuel, replacing unhealthy coal, is the best way to move forward.”
